Amplifier Circuit Design
Gain flatness is maintained to typically ±0.2 dB or better, which improves cascaded flatness. Each module has internal power supply decoupling to minimize power supply cross talk and fine-grain ripple. All DC biasing circuits use temperature compensating bias to reduce DC current drift to typically ±0.3% from -55°C to +85°C case temperatures. The nominal bias on the majority of the models is 15 volts, with many models biased in the 5- to 8-volt range. In addition, most 15-volt models have options for internal wire bond changes that provide full output power capability and 3rd order intercept performance when biased at 12-volts. Teledyne's standard amplifiers use an ultra broadband circuit technique to extend the usable frequency limit down to 100 kHz on some models.
Microwave Amplifier Circuit Design
Each Teledyne microwave amplifier is designed using Lange couplers to give a balanced amplifier design covering the 6 to 20 GHz frequency range. The nominal bias on the majority of the models is 12 volts, while others are designed to operate in the 5- to 8-volt range. One, two, or three stage designs are available to address customer needs. Teledyne's hermetic CougarPak™ is the standard package for microwave amplifiers.
Hybrid Products & Screening Workflows
Teledyne's standard hybrid component line is designed and constructed to meet most requirements of MIL-PRF-38534. For applications requiring a higher than standard reliability level, Teledyne offers the Q-Series (R-Series for most MTS components) screening flow. This is an industry and application proven screening flow, which assures an increased reliability component and meets many military-level applications. Teledyne QG, QH and QK series for hybrid products are fully compliant with MIL-PRF-38534 requirements, providing a fully certified QML componentfor programs and applications specifying MIL-PRF-38534 hardware.
QK-Series (MIL-PRF-38534, Class K): Industry standard for space applications, manufactured in a fully certified manufacturing and quality system. Includes preassembly element evaluation, and post assembly quality conformance inspections; QCI testing Groups A, B, C, and D.
QH-Series (MIL-PRF-38534, Class H): Standard military quality level, includes preassembly element evaluation and post assembly quality conformance inspection (QCI, Groups A, B, C, and D testing).
QG-Series (MIL-PRF-38534, Class G): Lowered reliability version of Class H, meets all Class H in-process requirements for inspections and screening.
Q-Series (R-Series): Based upon common industry-standard screening sequence, meets most military applications (Avnet/MTS’s R series screening requirements).
Teledyne Q, QG and QK series for mixer products adhere to the requirements of MIL-DTL-28837. See the screening flows in the Mixer Products Table. Additionally, Teledyne can manufacture and screen in full compliance with customers’ source control drawings or program-specific screening requirements, including non-standard elementevaluation and custom Groups A, B, C, and D testing sequences.
When requesting a screened hybrid or mixer product, insert the applicable screening flow designator (Q, R, QG, QH, or QK) behind the model number. For example, model ACP14025 becomes ACP14025Q for the Q-Series flow, and model APS2008 becomes APS2008QK for the fully compliant MIL-PRF-38534 Class K QML hardware.
